Data Retention
Akol automatically manages your data based on your plan. Here’s how long your data is kept and what happens when it expires.
How Long Is My Data Kept?

After the retention period, data is automatically deleted.
What Gets Deleted?
When data expires, the following are permanently removed:
- Call recordings — Audio files of your calls
- Transcripts — Written records of conversations
- Call summaries — AI-generated summaries
- Webhook logs — Delivery history for your automations
What Stays?
Some data is kept as long as your account is active:
- Your account and business profile
- Agent configurations
- Integration connections
- Billing history
Deleting Data Early
You don’t have to wait for the retention period. You can delete data anytime:
Delete a Single Call
- Go to Dashboard > Calls
- Click on the call you want to delete
- Click Delete and confirm
Delete Your Account
- Go to Dashboard > Settings > Account
- Click Delete Account
- Confirm the deletion
When you delete your account:
- Your data is kept for 30 days in case you change your mind
- After 30 days, everything is permanently deleted
- Phone numbers are released
- Integrations are disconnected
Export Before Deleting
Want to save your data before it expires? You can export it:
- Go to Dashboard > Settings > Account
- Click Export My Data
- You’ll receive a file with all your information

We recommend exporting your data regularly if you need to keep records beyond your plan’s retention period.
Healthcare Businesses
If HIPAA compliance applies to your business, Akol will offer extended 6-year data retention as part of the HIPAA add-on (coming soon). See HIPAA Compliance for details.
