Telnyx SMS

Send SMS messages through Telnyx — appointment confirmations, reminders, call summaries, and custom messages.

What It Does

  • Appointment confirmations — Automatic SMS when an appointment is booked
  • Appointment reminders — SMS reminders before scheduled appointments
  • Call summaries — Send a text summary after a call ends
  • Missed call notifications — Alert customers that you received their call
  • Custom messages — Send any text message to a phone number

Telnyx is Akol’s built-in telephony provider. If you’re using Akol phone numbers, Telnyx SMS is already available — no additional setup needed for basic SMS.

Troubleshooting

SMS Not Sending

  1. Verify your Telnyx API key is valid
  2. Check that your phone number has SMS capabilities
  3. For US messaging, ensure A2P registration is complete

Wrong “From” Number

  1. Set your default “from” number in the integration settings
  2. Or configure a messaging profile in your Telnyx account

Messages Not Received

  1. Check the recipient’s phone number format (E.164 required)
  2. Verify the recipient hasn’t blocked your number
  3. Check your Telnyx portal for delivery status

Tips

  1. Use a messaging profile — Telnyx messaging profiles help with carrier routing and deliverability
  2. Register for A2P — Required for business SMS in the US
  3. Keep messages short — SMS has a 160-character limit per segment; longer messages cost more
