Trusted Devices
Trusted devices let you skip the 2FA verification step on devices you use regularly. When you mark a device as trusted, you won’t be asked for a verification code on that device for 30 days.
How It Works
- During sign-in, after entering your 2FA code, check Remember this device for 30 days
- Akol creates a secure cookie on your browser that identifies the device
- On your next sign-in from that device, 2FA is skipped automatically
- After 30 days, you’ll be asked for a 2FA code again
What Gets Stored
Each trusted device record includes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Device name | Automatically detected from your browser (e.g., “Chrome on Windows”) |
| Last used | When you last signed in from this device |
| Expires | When the trust expires (30 days from creation) |
| Created | When you first trusted this device |
The device is identified by a combination of your browser and IP address. If either changes, you’ll be asked for 2FA again.
Managing Trusted Devices
View and manage your trusted devices in Dashboard > Settings > Security.
Viewing Devices
Your trusted devices list shows all currently active devices with their names, last used dates, and expiration dates.
Revoking a Single Device
- Find the device in your trusted devices list
- Click Revoke
- The device is removed immediately
Your next sign-in from that device will require a 2FA code.
Revoking All Devices
- Click Revoke All Devices
- Confirm the action
All trusted devices are removed. Every future sign-in will require a 2FA code until you trust devices again.
When to Revoke Devices
- Lost or stolen device — Immediately revoke it so no one can bypass 2FA
- Shared computer — Revoke trust after using a shared or public computer
- Security concern — If you suspect unauthorized access, revoke all devices
- Changed network — After switching to a new office or home network
Tips
- Only trust personal devices — Don’t trust shared or public computers
- Review regularly — Check your trusted devices list periodically and remove any you don’t recognize
- Revoke when in doubt — It only takes one extra step to re-verify with 2FA
