Getting Started

How does Akol work?

When a customer calls your business number, Akol’s AI agent answers the phone. It greets the caller, answers their questions about your business, and can book appointments on your calendar — all automatically, 24/7.

Do I need any technical skills?

Not at all. If you can use a website, you can set up Akol. Everything is done through the dashboard — no coding, no technical setup.

How long does it take to set up?

Most people are up and running in 15-20 minutes. You’ll create an account, add your business info, pick a voice for your agent, and get a phone number.

Does the agent sound like a robot?

No. Akol uses advanced voice technology that sounds natural and conversational. Callers often don’t realize they’re talking to an AI agent. You can choose from multiple voices and adjust the speaking speed.

Phone Numbers & Calls

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. You don’t have to change your business number. Just set up call forwarding from your existing number to your Akol number. Customers call the same number they always have.

What happens if the agent can’t answer a question?

If the agent doesn’t know the answer, it can take a message or transfer the call to you or your team. You control when transfers happen.

Can the agent handle multiple calls at the same time?

Yes. Unlike a human receptionist, your AI agent can handle multiple calls simultaneously. You’ll never get a busy signal.

Does it work after business hours?

Yes. Your agent answers 24/7. You can set different behaviors for after-hours calls — like taking messages instead of booking appointments, or only transferring emergencies.

Are calls recorded?

Only if you enable recording in your agent settings. If you do enable it, it’s a good practice to have your agent mention it in the greeting. Check your local laws about call recording consent.

Billing & Pricing

How much does Akol cost?

Plans start at $49/month for the Starter plan (100 minutes). The Pro plan is $149/month (500 minutes) and Business is $299/month (1,500 minutes). Phone numbers cost $2.99/month for local or $4.99/month for toll-free.

Is there a free plan or free trial?

Yes, both! The Free Plan gives you 30 minutes of call time with no credit card required — great for testing. All paid plans also come with a 14-day free trial where you get the full plan features and minutes. A credit card is required for the trial, but you won’t be charged until the 14 days are up.

What happens if I run out of minutes?

On the Free Plan, calls are paused until you upgrade. On paid plans, additional minutes beyond your allowance are billed at an overage rate (if you’ve enabled overage). You’ll get a notification when you’re running low.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There are no long-term contracts. Cancel from your dashboard and your account stays active until the end of your billing period.

Integrations

Can the agent book appointments on my calendar?

Yes. Connect Google Calendar, Outlook, or Calendly to let your agent book directly onto your schedule. No double-booking.

Does it work with my CRM?

Akol integrates with popular CRMs including Salesforce, HubSpot, and Pipedrive. New contacts and call details can be automatically added to your CRM.

Can I get notifications after each call?

Yes. Set up Slack, email, or SMS notifications to get a summary after every call. You can also get notified only for specific events like booked appointments or missed calls.

Performance & Quality

How accurate are the transcripts?

Very accurate. Akol uses advanced speech recognition to transcribe every call. You can read the full transcript and listen to the recording to verify.

What if the agent says something wrong?

Review the transcript, then update your business profile or agent instructions to correct the information. The agent uses the information you provide, so keeping it up to date ensures accurate responses.

Can I see what my agent said on each call?

Yes. Every call has a full transcript showing exactly what was said by both the agent and the caller, with timestamps. You can also listen to the recording.
